Adventure Awaits, but First You Have to Graduate: Info for Seniors
 !

As the school year comes to an end, Poly principal Bill Salas, head counselor Lolo Saldaña, yearbook Adviser Bretty Alexander, and Jostens’ representative Jack Nicholson recently gave some important updates for seniors! Here are some important things that the class of 2021 should keep in mind!

    • Diploma Pickups!

Seniors will be able to pick up their diplomas starting on Monday, June 20th from 8am to noon at the 100 building. In order to pick up your diploma you must bring your student ID and it must be the student that picks it up. Parents are not allowed to come pick it up alone, the student MUST be there.

    • Final Transcripts!

You may request final transcripts via Parchment, which can be found on the Poly SchoolLoop website, on the right of the homepage and you will have to make a Parchment account, if not done yet . If done early before the end of the school year, you must place a hold on your request so it will not be sent out until the final transcripts are ready. Parchment is a free service for students while still in high school but will cost 10 dollars per transcript if you decide to do this after August.

  • Ready for the Real World?

This week, I and many other seniors will be given a diploma and moving on into whatever kind of life we want to live. It is up to us to determine if we will continue education, have jobs, or just do nothing.

I’ve been waiting for the moment to finally graduate and have my life set. But as that day is approaching closer, I dread it more and more. Why was I so excited for this as a kid and what made me think I would have everything figured out by then?

If anything I feel more confused and overwhelmed than ever before. What exactly is in store for me? And why does it seem like I’m being pushed out into something I’m not really prepared for? Yup that’s right, adulthood. This has been a long struggle, being in in school, for SO many years. It’s routine and what I’ve been doing the past 13 years. In these 13 years what have I learned? Maybe some social skills and how kids can be cruel sometimes. The basic subjects such as math, history, english, and science. But what about managing my money? That’s only something that I’m really learning and investing in my senior year. Why does everything cost so much anyways? Applying for jobs, it’s a struggle, especially when I’ve been trying for months to get a job. Hello? I’ve been calling for so long now. Please give me a job, please.

I’ve decided for myself that I will continue to do even more education, all in the favor of trying to have a career that will hopefully keep me stable. Good luck to me and all the other seniors who are going to struggle and try to survive.

  • Senior Appreciation

At last, we have come to the end of this school year! Congratulations to all the students that have made it, but more importantly, con- gratulations to the seniors who have come so far and even now, are still continu- ing to go even further as they take their next big step in life. This school year, I have met so many amazing seniors that have influenced me and left a huge impact on me in several ways. They helped me settle in when I was unsure of what to do in a certain class, they were the greatest student counselors at Poly North, they were even there to assure me that I was always welcomed in a friend group. It was always the little moments that made

them leaving me thankful for ever having the oppor- tunity to have met them. Friends, classmates, peers; call them whatever but to me they will always be one of the biggest influencers to have ever come into my life. I also feel like they should be more honored and feel proud of themselves as we should for them. After all, they once started out like everyone else. They began sprouting as a tiny bunny and grew throughout high school becoming the ex- travagant jackrabbits they are now. This class of 2019 should deserve more ac- knowledgement because even without knowing it, they influenced a lot of other people’s lives, not just mine.

  • Letter to the Graduating Class

    Dear graduating Jackrabbits,

It is finally here, the day we never thought would come. Graduation is just around the corner. Excuse me, life is just around the corner. After four years of no sleep, terribly crowded parties, and being surrounded by annoying and immature people and teachers you have to see everyday, you will now be moving on to fouryears of even less sleep, even more crowded and crazy parties, and at least somewhat mature and less annoying people. But this time, you don’t necessarily have to go to the classes with the annoying professors.

Instead of stressing about what to wear for school the next day, you will start worrying about how you are going to pay for your next meal, or if you are going to be able to pay off your hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loans. But not to worry little bunnies, we will get through it. After all, we are Jackrabbits. We are from Poly, the home of scholars and champions – that’s us!

So cherish these last days of high school. Be extra nice to the teachers you cannot stand. Wish a beautiful life to that one girl in your fifth period English class that you have never talked to because why not?

Now you can all start fresh in the next chapter of your lives. If you are truant in high school, make the extra effort to go to your Introduction to Biology class nearly every time. If you have never been to a high school football game, try to go to a college game of any kind; they are a lot more exciting. If you never made an effort to talk to high school guys, try with college  ones. They are supposed to be more sophisticated and accepting (yeah right).

This is just the beginning – today high school graduation, tomorrow you are graduating from law school or medical school. Heck, you could be graduating from clown school if you really wanted to. Just remember to always do what you love, not necessarily what makes the most money.

And do not be so stressed, puh-lease! If you find yourself having a mental breakdown because you are doing all your studying for a final the night before, first of all, you are crazy, and second, just calm down. In five years you will not remember that final. Just breathe, eat some chocolate, do some yoga, smell some roses. Everything will be fine in the end.  I know this is cliche, but never doubt yourself! We all are capable of amazing things, and if you ever need a reminder of that,  I am sure you can contact one of your fellow former Jackrabbits. Good luck to you all! WE DID IT!
