  • Top 5 Valentine’s Day Date Ideas during the Pandemic

Here are my topics for Valentines Day Dates for this year

    1. Picnics!

Picnics are probably one of the most classic dates to go on. Picnics are where you would pack a bunch of your favorite foods or meals, and enjoy it at a nice destination, usually outdoors like the park or the beach.

       2. Renting an AMC Movie Theater for only 100 dollars

Due to the pandemic, most movie theaters are currently not open to the public, so AMC is allowing you to rent a movie theater room for only $100 (older movies) or $149 (new releases) for you and up to 20 other people. This would be a good thing to do for alone time and a more quiet setting, or you can even do a nice double date as you’re allowed to invite about 20 people.

    3. Eating out at restaurants

Although many restaurants have closed down during the beginning pandemic, many now have opened up and offered outdoor seating, but due to that many restaurants have less tables, so I suggest you go early for Valentines Day or reserve a table!

    4.Game night

I feel like games really bring out people’s personality so game night is definitely a great date to bond with someone. I specifically recommend UNO, everyone gets crazy about UNO.

    5.At home date

This is your safest option this year, to stay home and have a home cooked dinner followed up by a movie, after all we are stuck in a pandemic.

  • Alternatives to Valentines In-Person Dates

For those that love movie theaters, you can have a virtual watch party!

For those that love movie nights and miss in person movie theaters, an online movie date would be a safer alternative. The use of add-ons like Netflix party allows simultaneous video viewing and live chats To immerse yourself even more in the movie theater environment, you can order each other food through food services like door dash and Post-mates to make it feel more like a “movie night.”

For those that are seeking a challenge,  there are digital escape rooms!

Navigate a digital escape room together! Escape rooms require participants to work together virtually and can create some stronger bonds. All of the virtual escape rooms are played from the participants’ home, making the game an easy way  to stay connected to others while still socially distancing.

    Play around with personality quizzes!

Online personality quizzes are not only fun but great ways to assess your compatibility. It’s a great way to have a laugh and possibly bond over some of your favorite foods, characters and movies. There’s also the love language test. The love language test is another good way to test your compatibility. This questionnaire is an interesting topic for discussion while at the same time a great opportunity to learn more about your date.

For those that want to travel, you can travel the world through Virtual Museum tours!

Some of the world’s largest museums are now offering free online tours to everyone! These virtual tours are perfect because you don’t need to leave your household to travel the world! In essence, these tours are simulations of the in-person, museum experience.  If you don’t like art, zoos are another alternative. Virtual zoo tours and wildlife cams can be seen as another way to “go out” and travel the world without leaving your household

Live cams at aquariums are also very interesting! There is a wide collection of aquariums from across the United States you can view!

  • We’re Just Friends!

If you’re creative enough, those same gifts that are originally made for a significant other can easily be turned into gifts for your friends. However, here are some gift ideas you can also make or buy for your FRIENDS (this one’s for all you single people out there).

    • Sweets- There’s more to this holiday than just chocolate, treating your friends with a gift basket filled with all of your friend’s favorite snacks.
    • Plushie- Teddy Bears are also not the only hype of the day, a small plushie could always make an old pal of yours feel nice.
    • Inside Joke Gift- Make your buddy laugh by bringing up a memory only the two of you share by turning it into a gift.
    • Appreciation Letter- The name is self-explanatory, but of course some appreciation does not hurt in relationships, even friendships.
    • DIY- Take this opportunity to be creative and come up with anything you think your friend might enjoy (such as a coupon book, or a “10 reasons why I love you”) keep it platonic!
  • Sweetheart Gifts

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, several couples are beginning to prepare their gifts for their significant others as a form of appreciation

    • Chocolate- make your partner’s day the sweetest on this day of love. Be it a heart-shaped box of chocolates or their favorite chocolate, get them a little treat!
    • Flowers- by getting their favorite flowers, that might be enough to make your partner’s day the absolute best, with their inner beauty blooming through.
    • Teddy bear- it doesn’t have to be a big one, but just the right size for your partner to embrace while you are not there with them.
    • Love letter- whether you do this on a daily basis or not, a bit of appreciation for your partner would be nice
    • Anything Handmade- If you can’t afford anything this year, you don’t really have to buy anything, and can always make something instead. After all, it’s the thought that counts in the end.

  • What is the Ideal Date?

My ideal date is anything that someone put their effort and creativity into. It doesn’t have to be expensive; it should just be enjoyable and fun.

Some examples of some great first date ideas are active dates like going to one of those trampoline places or going go-kart racing or mountain climbing; pretty much any date where there won’t be any awkward quiet moments that I would have to fill in with boring conversation about school or lie about enjoying things. I also like the idea for a date that is something I could talk about for the rest of my life. I want to be old and decrepit talking about a date I had in high school with some guy who later cheated on me with my best friend, but that’s just me.

Pretty much all I’m saying is a little effort goes a long way. Especially because we are all kids and are probably not gonna end up with who we are currently with.

  • I Hate High School Couples and You Should Too

I Hate High School Couples and You Should Too

“Oh my God I have like the best boyfriend ever! He’s so romantic!”
Who. The Hell. Cares? Stop bragging about your boyfriend, you both are so irrelevant. What? You think you’re something special because he took you to Denny’s and you guys saw a movie? Sweetie, that is not romance, he is just trying to get you in bed by the end of the day. Did he show up to your house with a box of chocolate and a rose? How cliché! First of all, he got the gross chocolate from Wal-Mart and he ate half the box anyway, then he picked the rose from some random old lady’s garden. He put minimal thought into this. And honestly, if you are going to buy into his crap you can at least keep it to yourself; there is nothing more frustrating than trying to get to class and having to walk slowly behind two idiots trying to cuddle and walk at the same time. You look ridiculous. By the way, I hope you realize all your friends hate him too; they think he’s a douche. They are right to think this. You wouldn’t notice, though, because you’re too busy thinking you’re in love. You girls really need to calm the hell down. No, you don’t need a boyfriend, what you need is to do your damn homework. So does he. I know he’s failing at least three classes because he’s too busy flirting with you (and your best friend when you’re not paying attention). But that’s none of my business. *Sips tea* Bye, loser. Happy Valentine’s Day!

  • Does Valentine’s = Love?

    Does Valentine’s = Love?

Love is a very beautiful thing. It can be possible for two soulmates to find each other at such a young age, but all this puppy love makes me roll my eyes so far back in my head, I’m scared they’ll fall out one day. I would love for a guy to offer me his hand, dance with me, and ask me questions other than “Send nudes?” but, sadly those days of young romance are just gone.
For example, John Lennon and Yoko Ono were both already married when they met each other. Yoko had been married twice and was 36 years old. I have yet to meet a couple who genuinely love each other and who have lasted as many years.

I don’t believe that romance is dead, I believe love evolves, and relationships change. Since the Victorian era, women’s only goal in life has been to catch a husband and pop out a bunch of babies. The way we date may have changed, but our end goal hasn’t, and why is that? This is a new era and a new generation. Love is so much more than one day of gifts, than a marriage, than planning a future together. Love is now, love is for everyone, and it’s everywhere. Spreading love is everything, but being in love isn’t. Focus on yourself, be the amazing person you deserve, reach your goals, marriage doesn’t equal success.

If real love comes around, don’t celebrate it once a year with expensive gifts and empty promises. Love is everyday, Valentine’s is everyday. Single, taken, interested, irritated, high school is our time to grind, not plan a wedding.

  • Perfect Timing: A Love Story

    Perfect Timing: A Love Story

Savanna was shy, but a very sweet girl. There was a huge party coming up and her friends practically begged her to go. After a while she finally gave in. When she got to the party she expected her friends to meet her, but they didn’t. She didn’t recognize a single person there.

Eventually a group of strangers introduced themselves to her; most of them were guys but there was one that caught her attention. His name was Jeremy. When jeremy first met Savanna, he thought she was beyond beautiful , he was almost too shy to say hello. Jeremy and Savanna ended up talking the entire party. They opened up completely in a matter of moments. Nobody thought they were strangers; they felt as if they’ve always been one– they clicked. Time flew by and they found themselves apart going to different homes, without so much as each other’s digits.

Weeks went by and Savanna would find herself wondering where Jeremy went. Was he thinking about her? One day all the girls were talking about some new guy in school and she wanted to see what it was all about. They bumped into each other, it was raining and she felt it. She knew she had finally found her Jeremy. Jeremy couldn’t tell if he was dreaming or not. This time he wasn’t going to let Savanna slip away. They hung at school everyday, constantly wondering if they each felt the same.

Months went by and still neither of them would confess until one day Savanna found the courage to  finally tell Jeremy her feelings for him. Jeremy was walking on the air, he considered himself lucky to have such an amazing girl. She was his . He was hers. And they would never be alone again.
