Juniors are Getting Ready for Senior Year!

As junior year wraps up, many Poly students are already thinking about what senior year will be like. Some are excited, some are nervous, and most feel a mix of both. Here’s what a few juniors had to say about moving into their final year of high school:

Ivory Montejano is in the Arts/VMA pathway, and her favorite classes are dance and Spanish. She’s excited about all the senior activities, especially her last dance season with her friends. But she’s also scared about her last time dancing on stage because dance has been a big part of her life. She wants to enjoy her senior year more and stop overthinking. She’s looking forward to football games, dancing at halftime, and the Belmont Shore Parade. After high school, she wants to go to a four‑year university and study film or entertainment.

Lelani Leyva is in Poly Arts, and her favorite class is piano. She’s excited for prom, grad night, and senior picnic, but she’s nervous about college applications. She also mentioned Senior Assassin as something she’s scared to play. Her biggest lesson from junior year is “not to wait until the last minute to do work.” After her senior year, she plans to join an internship program.

Syreeta Roberts is in Arts/VMA, and her favorite class is theatre. She’s excited for graduation and all the fun senior events. She’s nervous about taking three AP classes for the first time. She wants to have more French Club meetings next year since she’s the vice president. Her advice for juniors is “Don’t worry, it’ll be over soon.” After high school, she wants to go to a four‑year university, study theatre, and become an actress.

Rhema Ray is in the Beach pathway, and her favorite class is Stage Technology. She’s excited for senior activities and spending more time with friends. Her biggest worry is keeping her grades up next year. She wants to manage her study time better in her senior year. She doesn’t have advice for incoming juniors and is still unsure about her plans after high school, which is totally normal.

Even though each student has their own story, they all feel a lot of the same things about senior year. They’re excited for all the fun events like prom, grad night, and football games, but they’re also nervous about grades, AP classes, and college applications. They want to enjoy their last year more, stress less, and make memories with their friends. Some know exactly what they want to do after high school, and some are still figuring it out, but no matter what, they’re all getting ready for a year that will be fun, emotional, and unforgettable.
